Birchbox UK April 2014

Birchbox time!

This month's theme is inspired by local food markets, the kitchen and all of our favourite eateries. These samples feature delicious scents and foodie elements.

I was waiting for this month's box with huge excitement and when it arrived I was equally happy and disappointed. I was looking forward to discover the TommyGuns Pomegranate shampoo in the April box but unluckily I don't think my profile met the criteria. Anyway, I am glad at least to have been given the option to choose a nail polish colour that I liked most (out of the 4 Birchbox was offering this month). I chose a beautiful pearly green colour and couldn't wait to try it on my nails.

Campos De Ibiza Almendra Body Milk - Mine is a sample size 38ml. RRP £16.55. I get never tired of a box when there is a body milk inside. I love to try different moisturisers. Luckily my skin is not very sensitive (except for my face) and I can use different brands and different lotions, body milks, body butters and oils without affecting my skin too much. It is a very light and quickly-absorbed almond body milk to hydrate skin. The smell is not very strong and leaves skin very neutral.

Lord & Berry Couture Kohl Kaja Eye Pencil - RRP £10. I do not use eye pencils or liners but I think I might try it. It is very easy to apply and the pencil is so smooth and soft. It will also look good when smudged I think.

TheBalm Cosmetics How 'Bout Them Apples? Cheek & Lip Cream - £26 for palette. An easy to blend cream offers gorgeous, long-lasting colour to cheeks and lips. It is a super miniature version and my fingertip can barely get any cream on it but already at first touch it is amazing. This cream is super soft and looks very nice on lips.

Color Club Gala's Gems Nail Polish - £15 for set of 4. Birchbox gave me the option to choose between 4 different colours and I picked this green one called "Breakfast At...". This is part of an exclusive set put together by Spanish fashion blogger Gala Gonzalez and Birchbox. The colour is an absolutely beautiful emerald pearl. I wear reds most of all which made me want to mix up my nail polish collection a bit.

Yes To Cucumbers Facial Wipes - RRP £4.99. These facial cucumber and aloe vera towelettes are perfect for traveling as they cleanse, remove make up and nourish skin with just one swipe. Of course you can use these not only on your trip but whenever you are in a hurry or just need to clean your skin.

Overall, I am pleased with my April Birchbox and enjoyed their food theme a lot!

The Body Shop Manchester Arndale Bloggers Event

I've been blogging for almost two years now but I'd still consider myself a newbie in the blogging world. On Thursday I had the chance to go to my first bloggers event at The Body Shop in Manchester to celebrate the release of an amazing new range on the 5th of May, including new bronzing items and a couple of vitamin C products! I was wearing my butterfly bow-tie brooch to the event and styled it with a white short sleeved shirt. It was a closed door event, so it was a good opportunity to browse all of the products and explore the new ones thoroughly! The event started at 8pm and I was one of the first ones to arrive. We were welcomed with milkshakes, fruit cocktails and lemonade. I went for water - shy and modest! There was also a white chocolate fountain and strawberries we had the chance to enjoy. The event was carried out by Fiona - she is a skin expert at the Manchester store. Everyone was able to get personal skin consult...

Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide - Starting again

The last time I posted about my workout regime was in November last year when I started the Kayla Itsines BBG healthy eating plan and 12 week workout sessions. I think I got up to week 4 before I lost my motivation because of illness and Christmas. My friend Marianne and I started BBG again on the 5th of January with thousands of other girls and joined #thekaylamovement and #kaylasarmy to share our journey along this painful but exciting path.  You can read my first post about the BBG programme here as I am explaining a bit more on how I 'found' Kayla and how the training works.  I have done BBG for 5 weeks now (the first 2 weeks we did pre-training) and I'm feeling quite positive. I've not seen much progress myself - I still have my weak areas like tummy, bum and thighs. I do feel much stronger though! I'm doing all of the workouts properly, I have strength in my legs and arms - it is quite easy to do 10 push ups and continue with triceps and mountain clim...

OOTD - The sun has come out!

It has been such a long time since my last fashion post, I've been missing them so much! The second the sun came out, Tristan and I went to the canal and took a few pictures. I think it is still too early for sunglasses but a light jacket is okay when you wear a jumper underneath (Primark) and a cosy leopard print scarf (Linea Cashmink) around your neck.  My black Veromoda jacket and shoes are both from Best Secret. You'll all know by now how much I've been raving about it. I think it is an amazing place for online shopping. I love the copper detailing and the simple look on my jacket, plus it's super lightweight. My trainers are by Puma & Alexander McQueen (click here to read my previous post). I also just noticed that I don't have any good shots of my Michael Kors bag, which I absolutely adore by the way! I'm sure everybody knows how beautiful these bags are so I think this will do for now. The bag and scarf were both Christmas presents fr...
