Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide - Starting again

The last time I posted about my workout regime was in November last year when I started the Kayla Itsines BBG healthy eating plan and 12 week workout sessions. I think I got up to week 4 before I lost my motivation because of illness and Christmas. My friend Marianne and I started BBG again on the 5th of January with thousands of other girls and joined #thekaylamovement and #kaylasarmy to share our journey along this painful but exciting path.

You can read my first post about the BBG programme here as I am explaining a bit more on how I 'found' Kayla and how the training works.

I have done BBG for 5 weeks now (the first 2 weeks we did pre-training) and I'm feeling quite positive. I've not seen much progress myself - I still have my weak areas like tummy, bum and thighs. I do feel much stronger though! I'm doing all of the workouts properly, I have strength in my legs and arms - it is quite easy to do 10 push ups and continue with triceps and mountain climbers. I am very enthusiastic about the next 7 weeks and can hopefully post a progress photo soon!

A couple of weeks ago I bought some sportwear gear - I think when you buy new clothes for training it makes you more inspired and gives you the motivation you might have been lacking.

With Kayla's healthy eating plan I am enjoying food so much more than before. I cook and prepare my meals, bake my own cookies and eat guilt free. I still make sure my portions are not too big, I count my minimum serves and keep an eye on my food groups daily.

I made a couple of collages of what I am usually eating at breakfast, lunch, dinner and my favourite part - desserts. In these pictures you see me eating avocado almost everywhere. It is my new thing! I tried avocado a long time ago but I never liked the taste very much. When I was on my holiday in Australia I started to like it a bit more, they serve avocado with almost everything! I usually mash it with a fork, mix it with natural yogurt to get a creamy texture and spread it on my bread or add it to my pasta for extra flavour.

For breakfast I usually have rye/soda bread with a topping - tuna and egg or avocado and egg salad. I also love to add something fresh - lettuce, apple, grapefruit or anything juicy and rich in vitamins.

I like to vary my dinners and I try not to eat the same thing two days in a row. I love sweet potato, wholemeal pasta, rice or vegetable/meat muffins and soups for dinner. They are very filling but light and easy meals for the evenings. I am putting a lot of effort into my cooking - I make my own meatballs and prepare different vegetable mixes. My favourites at the moment are muffins. I use sweet potato, zucchini, onion, chickpeas (different veg ingredients) and sometimes add some mince meat (turkey, chicken, lean lamb). Green tea is almost essential every evening!

For snacking/desserts I love to have different fruits and at least once a week I bake cookies or make pancakes. I usually make almond meal cookies or oat cookies and they last me days! For pancakes I use a half a cup of buckwheat flour and half a cup of plain flour, a cup of rice milk, 1/3 cup of brown sugar (optional, I like my pancakes sweet) and 2 eggs - super easy and yummy!

Once a month I am shopping at Unicorn Grocery where I stock up my dry ingredient shelf - these big bags of oats, oatmeal and coconut flour last me months. Rice milk is a good replacement for regular milk and sugar when you are making pancakes. Hazelnut butter is amazing when baking cakes or cookies. Couscous and corn pasta are delicious with meat and/or vegetables and they make a nice light lunch or dinner. I am experiencing many different things at the moment, so many new flavours and I really like it!

What is your favourite foods and what do you like to eat for your breakfast, lunch or dinner? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Love how determined you are! Last year, my boyfriends resolution was to workout everyday. Either by going to the gym, running around the neighborhood, or swimming laps in the gym pool, and he stuck to it! He looks and feels great too! I wish I could eat healthier, just so I can have more energy and feel better. I'll definitely have to take some tips from you! I'm literally the worst eater in the world!

The Body Shop Manchester Arndale Bloggers Event

I've been blogging for almost two years now but I'd still consider myself a newbie in the blogging world. On Thursday I had the chance to go to my first bloggers event at The Body Shop in Manchester to celebrate the release of an amazing new range on the 5th of May, including new bronzing items and a couple of vitamin C products! I was wearing my butterfly bow-tie brooch to the event and styled it with a white short sleeved shirt. It was a closed door event, so it was a good opportunity to browse all of the products and explore the new ones thoroughly! The event started at 8pm and I was one of the first ones to arrive. We were welcomed with milkshakes, fruit cocktails and lemonade. I went for water - shy and modest! There was also a white chocolate fountain and strawberries we had the chance to enjoy. The event was carried out by Fiona - she is a skin expert at the Manchester store. Everyone was able to get personal skin consult...

OOTD - The sun has come out!

It has been such a long time since my last fashion post, I've been missing them so much! The second the sun came out, Tristan and I went to the canal and took a few pictures. I think it is still too early for sunglasses but a light jacket is okay when you wear a jumper underneath (Primark) and a cosy leopard print scarf (Linea Cashmink) around your neck.  My black Veromoda jacket and shoes are both from Best Secret. You'll all know by now how much I've been raving about it. I think it is an amazing place for online shopping. I love the copper detailing and the simple look on my jacket, plus it's super lightweight. My trainers are by Puma & Alexander McQueen (click here to read my previous post). I also just noticed that I don't have any good shots of my Michael Kors bag, which I absolutely adore by the way! I'm sure everybody knows how beautiful these bags are so I think this will do for now. The bag and scarf were both Christmas presents fr...

Lilla Rose Flexi Clips

Today I want to talk a bit about my hair and my recent purchase from a company called Lilla Rose . Lilla Rose is a unique hair and jewellery accessory company from the US. They have many different hair items but I was more interested in their beautiful and well-known Flexi Clip. I got myself two of these - Autumn's Delight in size small and Festive Leaf in extra small. Before ordering I made sure of which size would fit best for my flat and thin hair.       Both of my Flexi Clips look stunning. The beaded wire is quite bendable but strong, the sliding pin is adjustable and they feel high-quality. I chose mine in a copper/rust shade but there are also silver and gold shades and so many different styles and colours available. As I recently cut my long hair short, I don't have many options with styling. I usually just wear my hair in a ponytail or a half ponytail. Autumn's Delight fits all my hair between the clip and Festive Leaf is perfect for a smal...
