Birchbox UK March 2014

My boyfriend gave me a lovely present and got me a 3 month Birchbox subscription. Box from the outside is cute and small and has this simple earthy look.

Inside there are usually 5 - 6 sample/full size products.

First one is Beauty Protector Protect & Oil - RRP £16 (4 oz, it is about 110ml). Mine is a sample size product in a cute little glass bottle, which I love! This protecting oil is for hair, to keep it healthy, shiny and happy. It guards your hair from UV rays and heat, at the same time smoothing and repairing. 1 - 3 drops into damp hair or dry ends should work well for all hair types! I am a big oil fan. I like all kinds of oils for my hair, face and body. If it works well and I like it, I would definitely consider buying a bigger bottle! At the moment I am using L'Oreal Elvive Extraordinari Oil, which leaves my hair a bit too heavy and greasy.

Gilchrist & Soames The London Collection Shower Gel - RRP £13.75 (8 oz, 236ml). Mine is a sample size, 45ml. It looks and smells luxurious. Paraben-free formula with red tea, grape seed and milk thistle to refresh and hydrate skin.

Urbanveda Radiance Daily Facial Wash - RRP £7.99 (150ml). I got a sample size, 20 ml. It is a vegan-friendly and natural skincare solution. It contains no SLS - Sodium lauryl sulfate, no parabens and is not a GM product. Which made me look into this a bit more.

I found out that the problem with sodium lauryl sulfate is that it strips the skin (and scalp, in the case of shampoo) of natural oils that our skin actually needs for protection. Also it can be very irritating, especially if a person is allergic to it. Studies show that even modest amounts in products can cause allergic reactions. What's more, because it removes the skin's natural, protective oil, the body ends up producing more oil (the very thing you're trying to get rid of) to compensate. (LINK)

I am using L'Oreal Paris Youth Code Foaming Gel Cleanser, 8 Ounces over a year now and after checking the ingredients, I found out that it contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate! So far I have not had any problems with my product. And I actually have to admit, my skin has never been as clear as it is now. I have always had very sensitive skin and I was fighting with skin and acne problems for years. I will continue with my regular routine and am considering giving this away instead.

Modelco Party Proof Lipstick - RRP £15.50 (for set of 3). My colour is 'Get Naked'. It says everything - basic, reserved and nude!

Eyeko Skinni Liquid Eyeliner - RRP £12. Created with Alexa Chung, it’s easy to create her signature cat eye. Apparently it is Alexa's favourite eyeliner, as it is easy to use and the sharp pen tip ensures a tidy line. I am not big fan of eyeliners, mostly because I have a shaky hand and it is too much messing around.

Overall I am very happy with the box and can't wait until my April Birchbox, which should be with me pretty soon!

Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide - Starting again

The last time I posted about my workout regime was in November last year when I started the Kayla Itsines BBG healthy eating plan and 12 week workout sessions. I think I got up to week 4 before I lost my motivation because of illness and Christmas. My friend Marianne and I started BBG again on the 5th of January with thousands of other girls and joined #thekaylamovement and #kaylasarmy to share our journey along this painful but exciting path.  You can read my first post about the BBG programme here as I am explaining a bit more on how I 'found' Kayla and how the training works.  I have done BBG for 5 weeks now (the first 2 weeks we did pre-training) and I'm feeling quite positive. I've not seen much progress myself - I still have my weak areas like tummy, bum and thighs. I do feel much stronger though! I'm doing all of the workouts properly, I have strength in my legs and arms - it is quite easy to do 10 push ups and continue with triceps and mountain clim...

The Body Shop Manchester Arndale Bloggers Event

I've been blogging for almost two years now but I'd still consider myself a newbie in the blogging world. On Thursday I had the chance to go to my first bloggers event at The Body Shop in Manchester to celebrate the release of an amazing new range on the 5th of May, including new bronzing items and a couple of vitamin C products! I was wearing my butterfly bow-tie brooch to the event and styled it with a white short sleeved shirt. It was a closed door event, so it was a good opportunity to browse all of the products and explore the new ones thoroughly! The event started at 8pm and I was one of the first ones to arrive. We were welcomed with milkshakes, fruit cocktails and lemonade. I went for water - shy and modest! There was also a white chocolate fountain and strawberries we had the chance to enjoy. The event was carried out by Fiona - she is a skin expert at the Manchester store. Everyone was able to get personal skin consult...

Lilla Rose Flexi Clips

Today I want to talk a bit about my hair and my recent purchase from a company called Lilla Rose . Lilla Rose is a unique hair and jewellery accessory company from the US. They have many different hair items but I was more interested in their beautiful and well-known Flexi Clip. I got myself two of these - Autumn's Delight in size small and Festive Leaf in extra small. Before ordering I made sure of which size would fit best for my flat and thin hair.       Both of my Flexi Clips look stunning. The beaded wire is quite bendable but strong, the sliding pin is adjustable and they feel high-quality. I chose mine in a copper/rust shade but there are also silver and gold shades and so many different styles and colours available. As I recently cut my long hair short, I don't have many options with styling. I usually just wear my hair in a ponytail or a half ponytail. Autumn's Delight fits all my hair between the clip and Festive Leaf is perfect for a smal...
