A few months ago I bought a facial soap for combination to oily skin from Clinique. I started using it straight away every evening. I didn't change any other part of my skin care regime, as my sensitive combination skin doesn't like many changes.
I had read so many positive reviews on this product, my friend even urged me to try it herself. The £16 soap bar comes with a dish, it's packed nicely and from the size of it, it looks like it could last years!
I didn't notice many changes to begin with. My face felt clean and soft as it normally would after washing. Days later, my skin started to become quite dry. I thought it was a good thing, as my T-zone is quite oily and that was the reason I bought the bar in the first place! A week later I started getting clogged pores, especially on my nose. I kept using it following this for two months - I thought my skin needed to get used to the soap over time but my issues just got worse. I started breaking out much more than usual, my face was becoming blemished and I began getting spots on my cheeks, nose and chin. My forehead had never been so bad, there were small pimples everywhere!
It has been a couple of days since I stopped using the product, I have since gone back to my old L'Oreal Paris Youth Code Foaming Gel Cleanser. My skin is slowly getting better and I am trying not to touch it or irritate it by wearing too much make up. Clinique skin care products seem a bit too harsh on my skin.
What have your experiences been with the Clinique Facial Soap bar? Did it work for you?

I guess their products don't work on everyone! Thanks for popping by Shannon x
DeleteThat sounds terrible! My flatmate uses Clinique, but I usually opt for lower-end/drugstore products. I had a phase where I tried to use higher-end products because I thought they'd be better, but I had pretty much the same experience as you!

I totally agree with you Laura! I guess I will stop experimenting for a bit and try to get my skin healthy again. Thanks so much x
DeleteThank you for sharing this! Thank goodness I didn't purchase this, my skin is quite sensitive.

My skin is sensitive too, I should have thought about it before trying the product x
DeleteYou can't use the clinique soap of it's own, you have to use the facial afterwards and most important you have to moisturize your face using DDML it's a 3-step procedure. Sorry that no one told you, because it's still the best.

DeleteI actually thought before I read your review a soap would be too drying for my skin, I didn't expect it to turn out this badly though! It's a shame it didn't work for you, I find using a serum every few nights hydrates my skin and actually balances oil production :)

I too wasn't a fan! Found it VERY VERY drying!
