Summer disappointments

I thought I would make my first 'Disappointments' post. Usually before buying anything, I will make sure I'm definitely getting the right product for myself. I'll read blogs/reviews, watch videos, search for pictures and so on, as I don't like to complain. Three of the products I've written about below I got from Subscription Beauty Boxes, so I didn't really get the chance to do the homework I would do normally. I still paid money for them which is of course annoying when I find out they aren't very good or don't suit me!

I am going to start with NIVEA Lip Care Pearly Shine Lip Balm. This is a product I bought a long time ago from Superdrug. I mostly use Nivea Hydro Care/Essential lip balms when my lips are cracked or dry, but that day I thought I would try something different and add a bit of colour to my lips with some pearly shine. I applied it on and sadly it left a horrible and unnatural colour on my lips. I have given this lip balm so many chances but I just can not wear it! It leaves my lips glittery and whenever they are a bit cracked the glitter makes my lips were uncomfortable. Well, as it is cheap (£2) I am not really worried if I decide to throw it.

After being disappointed in the Nivea product I bought, I thought I would give Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer in shade Grapefruit a chance. As you can tell I was still searching for a perfect lip balm with a bit of shimmer. I ordered it from Amazon as they had a sale on Burt's Bees products (RRP £6, I got it for £3). I had huge trouble opening it, as the sticky label was across the cap. Finally I just had to rip it all off and leave my new lip balm 'naked'. I have always liked Burt's Bees products but I think their lip shimmers are just not for me! Again the product was very glittery and it didn't stay evenly on my lips. It also left a very weird and unnatural shade on them. The only thing I liked about this lip shimmer was that it left a very nice pepperminty, soft feeling.

I was really excited for the So Susan Cosmetics Concealer Quad when it arrived in a beauty box. When I began trying to apply it on my face I just couldn't get it out! The concealer didn't stick to the finger and using a brush I found even more difficult. It has a very dry consistency which makes it hard to apply and blend. When it is finally applied it tends to cause the dry areas of my face to pop out. I was very disappointed when I couldn't get the coverage I wanted! As seen in the picture below it left the product smudged and looking very worn out.

I loved this B. Sheer Conditioning Lipstick at first but now I just can't get the coverage I want with it. I am also not such a big fan of this shade anymore (Flamingo). Another thing I was disappointed in was that it gets very flakey when left on for a long period of time and the colour itself don't last long at all either. It fades away quite quickly and leaves my lips a bit too dry.

I am not totally disappointed in the Pureology Colour Stylist Silk Bodifier Volumizing Mousse but there are few things that I didn't like. As advertised, it should add fullness and volume to my hair but it's just not working for me! I have straight and heavy hair which is very hard to style. I hoped this mousse would do the job as it is an award winning product and is talked about so much. It works well at first, leaving my hair soft and shiny but on the other hand it also makes my hair look dirty and sticky after it is left in for a while.

So here they are, all reviewed. I am sure there are people loving some of these products at the moment, maybe even all of them. I've given my honest opinion on them all but of course we all have our own experiences with beauty products - good and bad!

Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide - Starting again

The last time I posted about my workout regime was in November last year when I started the Kayla Itsines BBG healthy eating plan and 12 week workout sessions. I think I got up to week 4 before I lost my motivation because of illness and Christmas. My friend Marianne and I started BBG again on the 5th of January with thousands of other girls and joined #thekaylamovement and #kaylasarmy to share our journey along this painful but exciting path.  You can read my first post about the BBG programme here as I am explaining a bit more on how I 'found' Kayla and how the training works.  I have done BBG for 5 weeks now (the first 2 weeks we did pre-training) and I'm feeling quite positive. I've not seen much progress myself - I still have my weak areas like tummy, bum and thighs. I do feel much stronger though! I'm doing all of the workouts properly, I have strength in my legs and arms - it is quite easy to do 10 push ups and continue with triceps and mountain clim...

The Body Shop Manchester Arndale Bloggers Event

I've been blogging for almost two years now but I'd still consider myself a newbie in the blogging world. On Thursday I had the chance to go to my first bloggers event at The Body Shop in Manchester to celebrate the release of an amazing new range on the 5th of May, including new bronzing items and a couple of vitamin C products! I was wearing my butterfly bow-tie brooch to the event and styled it with a white short sleeved shirt. It was a closed door event, so it was a good opportunity to browse all of the products and explore the new ones thoroughly! The event started at 8pm and I was one of the first ones to arrive. We were welcomed with milkshakes, fruit cocktails and lemonade. I went for water - shy and modest! There was also a white chocolate fountain and strawberries we had the chance to enjoy. The event was carried out by Fiona - she is a skin expert at the Manchester store. Everyone was able to get personal skin consult...

Lilla Rose Flexi Clips

Today I want to talk a bit about my hair and my recent purchase from a company called Lilla Rose . Lilla Rose is a unique hair and jewellery accessory company from the US. They have many different hair items but I was more interested in their beautiful and well-known Flexi Clip. I got myself two of these - Autumn's Delight in size small and Festive Leaf in extra small. Before ordering I made sure of which size would fit best for my flat and thin hair.       Both of my Flexi Clips look stunning. The beaded wire is quite bendable but strong, the sliding pin is adjustable and they feel high-quality. I chose mine in a copper/rust shade but there are also silver and gold shades and so many different styles and colours available. As I recently cut my long hair short, I don't have many options with styling. I usually just wear my hair in a ponytail or a half ponytail. Autumn's Delight fits all my hair between the clip and Festive Leaf is perfect for a smal...
