Moving to Australia // Planning the move

We are moving to Australia! After 9 years of living in the UK, Tristan and I have decided to pack our bags and leave Manchester. We will be moving at the end of October this year and as we want our move to go as smoothly as possible, we have lots of things to sort out! Since I became pregnant with Saskia, we talked a lot more about moving to Australia. Tristan and I have no family here in the UK and we wanted Saskia to be closer to her relatives. On the 10th of February we finally lodged our Partner Visa 309/100 application. We were told it could take up to 19 months to receive a response. As we were patiently waiting, on the 11th of June after 4 months I received my grant letter! :) So here is how things have been going so far. After I received my visa, we shared the news with our friends and family. There are definitely mixed feelings from my side of the family - I am moving even further away from Estonia but they have always known about our plans and understand our deci...

O&OJ // Mini Baby Blush

This cute set of 3 handmade headbands was a gift to Saskia from my friend whose sister owns a hair accessory shop called O&OJ. I have always been a bit sceptical about hair accessories; sometimes it looks painful when a baby is wearing a bow or hairband as it looks too tight. I didn't think I would have Saskia wear bows until she was a few years older but I found myself putting these on her anyway! I had not tried any other hair accessories on Saskia before, so I didn't have much to compare but these are beautiful on her. The quality is amazing and they feel very soft and gentle on the head.  This is their Baby Blush set which includes a grey felt bow, metallic pink faux leather bow and pale pink faux leather bow. Saskia at 3 months Saskia at 15 months They have a wide range of different styles and collections (like Christmas, Easter, Halloween) and also other hair accessories (headbands, bows, hair bobbles). Here is a link to their web page i...

New in // skin care and make up

I've been looking for a face serum and body oil, as it has been a while since I bought any skin care or make up products. My mum has been ordering from Dermoshop for years and recommended a few of their products, so I put together an order. Dermosil Nature Body Oil - 100ml (RRP € 10.90 ) This body oil was recommended to me by mum. She has tried almost every product from Dermoshop and swears by this body oil. I am not too keen on big scents but this has a light natural citrus scent which I like. It contains sunflower, jojoba, avocado, blackcurrant seed oils and rosemary leaf extract. All of these ingredients are from a natural origin and are organic which makes this body oil even more loveable. Dermosil Faces Skin Balancing Serum - 30ml (RRP € 13.50) This serum is best for oily or combination skin as it keeps the skin fresh and gives it a matte finish. I have used this a few times now and it's very nice on the face, it absorbs quickly and it doesn't leave the...

Third trimester // Pregnancy tag

I know I am very late with my third trimester post but I really wanted to end my trimester updates before I write anything else about the baby. I thought it would be a bit more interesting to do this in a question/answer format, as most of these questions were on my mind a lot when I was in the last stages of my pregnancy. 1. How many months pregnant were you when the baby was born? I was 39 weeks + 5 days pregnant when Saskia was born. 2. Is this your first? Do you want more kids? Yes, this is my first. I would definitely like to have more kids. I only have one sibling and Tristan has five younger brothers - I love the idea Saskia growing up in a big family. 3. Did you wait three months to tell? To friends yes, but I told my parents the same day I found out I was pregnant. 4. How did your family react to the news? My parents were very happy for us. My mum started crying when I told her, happy tears of course. 5. Did you find out the sex of the baby? Yes, Tristan and I want...

Second trimester update

As I am now in my third trimester, I thought I'd give you a little update on how the baby and I have been. The second trimester has been the most enjoyable part of my pregnancy so far; my morning sickness has passed and my appetite is back! Second trimester scan Around my 20th week I had an anomaly scan to check if the baby was developing normally and that there weren't any complications. Everything was good and no problems were found! Of course it was also an opportunity to find out who we were expecting. For some reason I had the feeling that I was going to have a boy but when we were told it was going to be a girl, Tristan's face just lit up! He really wanted to have a girl first. Antenatal appointments I have been seeing my midwife at my local health centre more regularly and up until now everything has been great. She has been doing all of the regular checks, listening to the baby's heartbeat and giving me advice. I have had my flu shot, my whooping cou...

Nursery room ideas - 3 favourite styles

I am now more than half way through my pregnancy, so I think it's time to start thinking about how to decorate our nursery. As we are renting we are a bit limited in what we can do but I have been browsing Pinterest for the past couple of weeks to put together a small collage of ideas. I am a big fan of the Scandinavian interior style; I like natural tones, clean prints and simplicity. The highlight of this room is definitely the Rocking Sheep. This particular rocking sheep is by Danish designer POVL KJER. T heir products are amazing but are unfortunately a little higher than my budget. I've seen similar handmade rocking sheep in some Estonian shops and would probably consider getting one from there.    Traditional might also be a nice style to choose - light and simple furniture with just a bit of colour to brighten up the room. I like the combination of orange and green and think they would be a great colour match for the nursery . I found a Buzz Bouncing Cradle at Mamas...

Get Fruity // Oat and Fruit Bars

A while ago I bought a box of 'Get Fruity' snack bars. I ordered them online back when they gave the option to buy either a pack of 6 or a box of 25 but I think now they only sell them in large quantities. Get Fruity have a quite a selection of flavours; I am quite picky when it comes to fruit bars, so I picked Juicy Apricot, Orange & Ginger; Tangy Pineapple, Coconut & Lime Bar; and Moist Mixed Berry Bar.  My order was delayed and when it eventually arrived I was surprised to find that some extra bars had been added to my order - that was really nice of them! The box contained about 25 bars altogether - I had almost the whole month covered! I put one in my bag before going to work or the gym. Get Fruity make some of the best snack bars I have tried. I got so addicted to these! They all have a similar texture - super jucy, soft and have a very natural taste.  My favourite is the Juicy Apricot, Orange & Ginger bar. It has a subtle, sweet taste and you ...
